Based in the U.S. and China, BURN THE FILM is co-founded by independent filmmakers Shengze Zhu and Zhengfan Yang, who have been collaborating since 2010. It focuses on creating and producing original moving-image works that reflect a unique personal vision. Committed to exploring new forms and narratives, BURN THE FILM strives to inspire, challenge, and engage through its films.
Since 2012, BURN THE FILM has produced eight feature-length films and several shorts and videos, encompassing creative documentaries, auteur-driven fiction, experimental films, and installations. Its work has been showcased at renowned film festivals worldwide, including Venice, Berlinale, Locarno, Rotterdam, Karlovy Vary, New York, BFI London, Mar del Plata, Busan, Jeonju, as well as at prominent venues such as MoMA, Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art in the U.S., the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, U.K., the Matadero Contemporary Art Center in Spain, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in South Korea, and the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in China.
